An oak forest near the Ognianovo dam lake, in the Sofia region, will be developed into a golf resort, it transpired Monday after the Elin Pelin municipality sold five land plots to two private buyers.
Three of the properties, with a combined area of 53.8 ha were acquired by Li Holiday, a company reportedly affiliated with local businessman Hristo Kovachki.
They have been earmarked for a hunting ground estate adjacent to the golf complex.
The bank guarantees for the participation in the auction of both successful bidders were issued by Municipal Bank.
The remaining two land plots, with a combined area of 29 ha, were sold to the Golf Club company which is reportedly connected to advertising boss Krasimir Gergov.
Sources from the Elin Pelin municipality said that Gergov earlier bought 20.7 ha of land on the banks of the dam lake.
The price at which the properties were transacted will be disclosed after the Elin Pelin mayor signed the sale orders.
Bidding started at 1.60 levs/sq m.
